What To Expect Before & After Permanent Makeup

BEFORE TREATMENT

  • Do not work out the day of the procedure.

  • Do not tan or have a sunburned face.

  • Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Ibuprofen 24 hours before procedure.

  • No alcohol or caffeine on the day or night prior to your procedure.

  • No waxing or tinting 3 days before.

  • Please note: you will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle.

AFTER TREATMENT

  • Avoid water, cleansers, creams, makeup or any other products on treated area for 10 days.

  • 4-5 hours after the procedure clean the area with sterile water and cotton pad, gauze or Q-tip and allow to air dry.

  • Avoid heavy sweating through your first 10 days of healing.

  • NO facials, Botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

  • Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days.

Permanent Makeup After Care Instructions

After care is very important for producing a beautiful and long lasting result.

Do not use cleansing creams, acne cleansers or astringents. Keep the area clean by washing with freshly washed hands and a mild natural soap. Do not use a washcloth or sponge to remove soap. Simply splash with water.

Apply the aftercare balm with freshly washed hands or a Q-tip. If the balm is too stiff to use simply warm it up in a glass of warm water or on your finger. Use the balm very sparingly. Too little is better than too much. Blot off excess with a clean tissue.

Never touch the procedure area without washing your hands immediately before.

Do not scrub, rub or pick at the skin crust that forms. Allow it to flake off by itself. The pigment (permanent makeup) underneath will likely be removed along with it if peeled prematurely.

Do not use any makeup near the procedure area for at least 3 days (including mascara for eyeliner procedures). Purchase new mascara and makeup if possible to avoid contamination or bacterial infection.

Always apply a sunscreen after the procedure area has healed to protect from sun fading.

What Is Normal?

Immediately after the procedure slight swelling, itching, scabbing, light bruising, dry skin or tightness is normal. Follow after care instructions and apply ice to the area for relief of any swelling or bruising. Failure to follow the aftercare instructions may result in infections, pigment loss or discoloration.

Imperfections, pigment may appear too dark or slightly uneven. Please have patience. Darkness will fade within 2-7 days and unevenness typically disappears once swelling dissipates. If after 4 weeks makeup still appears too dark or a bit uneven, adjustments can be made at your pre-scheduled Touch Up appointment.

A 4 week Touch Up appointment is necessary and is included in your initial price. Color (pigment) will lighten and may even seem to disappear as the procedure area heals. Area must be completely healed (requiring at least 4 weeks) before concerns or adjustments can be addressed. Touch Up appointments beyond 60 days will assess a $175 fee (or current Touch Up rate at the time of service).

Maintaining Microblading or Permanent Makeup color. After your initial procedure depending on your skin, medications and sun exposure a Touch Up will be necessary within 1-5 years. We recommend a Touch Up every 1-3 years to keep them looking fresh and beautiful.
